State Government Advocacy efforts brings the voice of credit unions to Sacramento and Carson City. Our advocacy team works daily with elected officials, staff, the executive offices, gubernatorial appointees, and the decision-makers of California and Nevada. This area will keep you updated on all advocacy efforts at the state level of Government.

CALIFORNIA LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
The California Legislature is well into the 2010-2011 legislative session. Credit unions can anticipate a full array of issues addressing mortgage lending, loan origination, and foreclosure proceedings. The California Legislature is going to be very active this year in addressing financial institutions and the current economic climate, which also includes the state’s growing budget deficit. NEVADA LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
The 76th Session of the Nevada Legislature began on February 7, 2011 at 11:01 AM, and adjourned sine die on June 7, 2011, at 1:20 AM.  The government affairs team tracked, monitored and/or sought to amend over 30 bills this year.  In one of the busiest legislative sessions for the financial services community, bill topics included everything from mortgage lending, money transmittals to foreign countries and county recorder fees.
